Sara's Baked Version of Chrissy Teigen's "John's Fried Chicken Wings with Spicy Honey Butter"

Sara's Baked Version of Chrissy Teigen's "John's Fried Chicken Wings with Spicy Honey Butter"

I think I need to work on a different name for these wings. It’s sort of a mouthful. Anyway, over the weekend I got Chrissy Teigen’s cookbook Cravings from the library. I know, the library??? Well, my friend Lauren mentioned to me that she takes out cookbooks from her local library to test run them. And it’s pretty brilliant. I mean, how many cookbooks have you bought just to realize you only like one or two recipes? I knew this was a good one, but in the name of budgeting, I grabbed it from the library.

The most iconic recipe is the Fried Chicken Wings and I love chicken wings. I just had to make one teeny tiny change and that was to NOT deep fry them. I’m sure the wings are far more delicious that way, but I didn’t want to deal with frying, having hot oil or my house stinking of frying oil for the foreseeable future (note: my roommate was away and would have been irritated to come home Sunday night with oil wafting throughout the house).

So I baked them…I hope Chrissy doesn’t hate me for changing her recipe, but I think they turned out pretty good.

I followed the recipe, which you can find here, up until the frying part.

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.

  2. Flour the wings as per the recipe.

  3. Place the floured wings on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.

  4. Cook for 30 minutes, flip the wings and cook for another 20 minutes or until the wings are cooked through.

  5. Drench in the honey butter sauce according to the recipe.

  6. Devour!

The other modification I made was quartering the recipe. I’m one person and I don’t need to eat 5 pounds of chicken wings.
